About Me

Dr. Rohit K. Dubey is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Computational Social Science chair at ETH Zurich, where he heads the Zurich team for the “Semantic Urban Elements” project. Since 2022, he’s been deeply involved in AI for urban planning, particularly focusing on adaptive traffic infrastructure. With a Ph.D. from D-INFK, ETH Zurich in 2020, Rohit’s earlier work delved into understanding how people navigate uncertain environments. Before his current role, he contributed as a research engineer at the Institute for Infocomm Research in Singapore and gained industry experience at IBM India. Rohit’s past project involved developing a comprehensive framework for microscopic pedestrian crowd simulation, addressing the complexities of decision-making in urban settings. Presently, his research pursuits span the ethical application of AI in urban planning, primarily focusing on developing virtual cities that bring about positive outcomes for individuals and society. More specifically, he is currently investigating adaptive street infrastructure tailored for the seamless and fair integration of the next generation of autonomous vehicles into society. This involves ensuring a fair allocation of space that does not compromise the rights of vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists.

Vision for the Future

In essence, Rohit K. Dubey envisions a future where technological advancements and urban planning harmoniously coexist with ethical considerations, creating a positive impact on both individuals and society at large. As he continues to push the boundaries of knowledge, Rohit remains dedicated to shaping the future of computational social science and AI in urban planning.
